Pam Baker |
| |
Starting out as a solo folk musician in the early 80's, Pam is back to her roots. Growing up on Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, Carole King, Joan Baez, and a love for the ladies of jazz and blues (Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan), it's no wonder she's back out singing with her guitar.
Both an outstanding vocalist and an adept performer on acoustic guitar, this able songstress captivates her audience with the intensity of her performance. Her strong background in blues and contemporary folk music provide a unique twist as Pam offers up the work of blues legends like Bessie Smith to more contemporary performers adding a few of her songs to the mix.
Opening for artists such as Savoy Brown, Tab Benoit, Coco Montoya, Debbie Davies, Popa Chubby, James Montgomery and Duke Robillard, Pam weaves a spell around her audiences, capturing and holding their attention. |

Old Red |
| |
Old southern melodies, passed down over the years - born from the union of Anglo American fiddle music and the rhythmic twang and thump of the banjo which came to the old south from Africa. The music spread throughout the south, from the peaks and hollows of the Appalachian Mountains, to the canebrakes and swamplands of the Deep South, to the prairies of the west. It might be played on back porches, in parlors, shanties, on steamboats...or up Cumberland Gap on the back of a buckin' mule... For hoedowns, house parties, square dances, and minstrel shows... The music has endured over generations because it was created by ordinary folks for their own enjoyment... Passed down to the present time through our encounters with older musicians, and careful study of vintage 78 rpm records and field recordings. Played in straightforward acoustic style.

With their vocal harmonies, fast guitar pickin’, and bluesy stride piano, they can hold the attention of the loudest bar crowds and impress the most critical songwriter’s circles.
Johnny and June Carter Cash’s Jackson, Ghost Riders in the Sky, and the medley Will the Circle Be Unbroken/I’ll Fly Away are staples in their live set that show the couple’s Texas roots and always bring down the house. |

Violet’s robust yet sensitive alto can stop all chatter when she sings Patsy Cline or Janis Joplin, and Anthony switches between Fats Domino type piano and guitar licks ala Carl Perkins within a song. Don’t be fooled though…..with a song list including Flamenco, Oldies, Classic Rock, Jazz, Motown, and even Disco, just to name a few genres, this duo can hardly be classified as a mere country act. Their extensive performance experience has given them a sixth sense to read a crowd, and keeps everybody smiling...
