Old Time Night at the Blue!
On the fourth Friday of every month, Blue doesn't just go old school...we go "Old Time!"Old
southern melodies, passed down over the years - born from the union of Anglo American fiddle music and the rhythmic twang
and thump of the banjo which came to the old south from Africa. The music spread throughout the south, from the peaks and hollows
of the Appalachian Mountains, to the canebrakes and swamplands of the Deep South, to the prairies of the west. It might be played
on back porches, in parlors, shanties, on steamboats...or up Cumberland Gap on the back of a buckin' mule ... For hoedowns,
house parties, square dances, and minstrel shows...the music has endured over generations because it was created by ordinary folks
for their own enjoyment...passed down to the present time through our encounters with older musicians, and careful study of
vintage 78 rpm records and field recordings played in straightforward acoustic style.
